Dr. Jeff Byers
Dr. Jeff Byers is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor degree in Animal Science, having served on the 1977 General Livestock Judging Team. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1982. He is also a graduate of the Dairy Health Management Certificate Program at Michigan State and Ohio State Universities. Dr. Byers' primary veterinary focus is dairy and beef cattle herd health management with special emphasis on reproduction, including embryo implant services and ultrasound. He and his wife Marti live on the family farm where they raise registered Polled Shorthorn cattle. Marti is a retired 4th grade teacher after 35 years with the Hillsdale School district. They have two grown children, Mike and Tara, and a granddaughter, Marie. They have a dog named Debbie.
Dr. Rebecca Cawrse
Dr. Becky Cawrse grew up north of New London on a commercial hog farm. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Ohio State in 1995 and received her DVM from Ohio State in 1999. She spent 1 year in western NY, then 6 1/2 years in Ft. Recovery, OH before coming to Byland. She has been at Byland since 2007. She enjoys working with livestock producers and pet owners to provide the best medical care for her patients.Dr. Cawrse and her husband, Mark, have 3 children: Anthony, Allison, and Austin, their Golden Retriever Brutus, and a cat named Mix. She is a member of the Ashland County Board of Health, a Girl Scout troop leader and she and Mark are active members of St. Peter's Church in Loudonville.
Dr. Hannah Simmons
Dr. Hannah Simmons grew up in Cox's Mills, West Virginia. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Veterinary Sciences from Clemson University in 2016. She received her DVM in 2021 from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She loves the variety of cases mixed animal practice brings and that no two days are the same. She loves working with horses and beef cows and is most interested in reproduction. In her free time she enjoys playing with her chocolate lab Cash, spending time with her fiancé, riding her horse Duke, camping, or being with her family.
Dr. Lexi Grossnickle
Dr. Lexi Grossnickle is a 2019 graduate of Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She grew up on a dairy farm in Maryland and enjoys bovine reproduction. Dr. Lexi moved from Virginia where she practiced mostly small animal medicine before making the move to the Buckeye state. She has one cat, Matilda, and loves being outdoors in her free time.
Registered Veterinary Technician
Morgan is a registered veterinary technician, a 2018 graduate of the Bradford Veterinary Technical Institute. She loves both large animal and small animal medicine. In her free time, Morgan enjoys spending time outdoors and with family and friends. Her pets include two rescues, a dog Abby and a cat Styx, as well as a goat, Clover.
Registered Veterinary Technician
Teri is a registered veterinary technician who is a 2019 graduate of the Bradford Veterinary Technical Institute. She has interests in large, small and exotic animal medicine. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking, bonfires and relaxing. She has two dogs, Snort and Waffles.
Melissa is a 2010 graduate of the Florida Institute of Animal Arts Veterinary Assisting II-Exotics program. She was trained as a docent at the Central Florida Zoo and has worked in wildlife refuge, shelter medicine, urgent care, and general practice settings. She is currently enrolled in the San Juan College Vet Tech program. Melissa enjoys art, knife throwing, hiking, and spending time with her 2 sons, 2 dogs, and 4 cats.
